Koi

Who lives where? Who lives how? What story do these fish have? We are happy to answer these and other questions in our species presentation.

Description

Koi are a breed of carp. It is not for nothing that they are called the kings of the garden pond, because they are also becoming increasingly attractive for private individuals. The history of the koi goes back a long way, but could never be clearly clarified. The sensitive animals were probably brought to Asia from Iran about 2000 years ago.

Way of Life/Habitat

Everyone knows them by now: the colorful fish with orange, white and black colors. Koi are more or less sociable cronies depending on their age. Due to their intense and very different coloring, the individual characters of the animals can be kept apart and many a garden owner may not want to do without his loyal friends. Koi reach sexual maturity at around 4-5 years. The animals spawn in the flock in spring. The females train an impressive 100,000 to 200,000 eggs annually.
